Our very own center director has done a bit of research on all the Top Boarding Schools in the U.S.  After analyzing the Washington Post, Forbes Magazine, Prep Review, Top Test Prep, About.com, and FindTheBest.com, he was able to put together the above list.

The reputations of Boarding Schools are based on many factors including selectivity, the ability to help its’ students into top tiered universities and frankly, the ability to “educate” as they were all originally designed to do.  However, there are also other factors and in particular, how the media portrays the schools.  The above rankings are primarily based on the how the media ranks the boarding schools and with their exposure, each of the schools obtain a point total marked in the last column.

Also, the above list compiles the “top co-educational” institutions.  Originally, the Hockaday School out of Texas was in our Top U.S. Boarding Schools list in the number 15th position. Many of today’s private schools are single sex schools which attempt to keep students focused by not having distractions from the opposite sex.  In future posts, we will provide details on the Top Girls or Boys Boarding Schools in the U.S. including Hockaday.
